About the role
The Account Manager is responsible for cultivating and expanding relationships within the accounts of their assigned territory in order to achieve blood collection goals and ensure the blood center can meet the demands of hospitals and patients.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for achieving monthly and annual blood collection goals in the assigned territory through the planning and organization of blood drives and donor center events in partnership with account sponsors.
- Ensures accurate projection rates and efficient pre-drive promotion and donor scheduling for assigned accounts in adherence to all department guidelines, while driving cost-effective blood drives.
- Captures and coordinates meetings and collaboration with blood drive sponsors.
- Motivates, inspires and educates sponsors on ideal blood drive promotion.
- Manages daily blood drive recruitment activities to optimize blood drive performance; identifies and resolves issues affecting achievement of daily collection goals, maintains outstanding communication internally and externally and works to ensure quality customer service.
- Prepares and delivers high-impact meetings and presentations.
- Organizes, develops, and educates sponsors, coordinators, and recruitment committees, providing appropriate support and materials for effective blood drive promotion.
- Participates in the planning of special recruitment events, sponsor/donor recognition programs, and sponsor workshops.
- Offers strategic insights tailored to each market segment in order to optimize blood drive performance.
- Uses marketing tools and strategies to develop and evaluate sponsor accounts to achieve maximum donor participation.
- Identifies potential markets and prospects; evaluates, qualifies, and develops recruitment/sales methodologies for new sponsor accounts to ensure ongoing expansion of the donor base.
- Sets up and maintains accurate and up-to-date information on assigned accounts in account calendar software.
- Responsible for generating reports related to blood drives.
- Functions as a steward of the brand by increasing visibility and participation in community events, chambers, and member organizations.
- Serves as a subject matter expert on blood industry topics and may speak at conferences or relevant industry or interest group meetings.
- Plans, evaluates, and schedules blood drives in cooperation with the divisional calendar manager, to achieve collection goals, optimize utilization of staff and other resources, and ensure even and predictable collections through the calendar year, including holiday and school breaks.
- This includes continuous review and analysis of blood drives, confirmation status, open capacity, and critical details to their overall performance.
- Works as part of a team to support achievement of divisional goals, offering flexibility and collaboration to balance the collection calendar and schedule of mobile events.
- Affords assistance with vacant territory coverage and supports other divisional territories as needed to ensure achievement of regional or divisional goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or 2+ years equivalent experience or any combination of the two with emphasis in one or more of the following areas: Sales, public relations, management, education, customer service, business development, or non-profit.
- Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following: Account management, Territory sales or business development, Donor recruitment or nonprofit fundraising, Healthcare sales, medical services, or community-based outreach, Customer relationship management in a performance-driven environment.
- Any combination of education, training and experience that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.

Benefits
The proposed annual salary for this position is $61,000 - $68,000. This position offers a base salary and is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation in accordance with company plans and policies.

Schedule
Travel primarily throughout the State of Connecticut; Local Travel 75+% of the time with infrequent domestic travel.
