About the Role
This Account Manager position supports the Central, Texas market within a values-based organization.
Responsibilities
- Territory Management
- Proactively lead an account planning process that develops performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones.
- Establish a business plan to meet assigned objectives, goals, and quotas.
- Utilize customer stratification principles in territory and account planning.
- Account Management
- Implement the selling process (Buyer Based Selling and Power Messaging) with account planning and sales calls.
- Establish productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts.
- Visit each assigned Platinum/Gold Customer once per week and develop appropriate call plans for all other assigned customers.
- Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts and target accounts.
- Proactively assess, clarify, and validate customer needs on an ongoing basis.
- Lead solution development efforts that best address customer needs, coordinating involvement of all necessary company personnel.
- Marketing/Training
- Support and execute DW’s Sales and Marketing activities, including DW Shows, DW Dividend Program, and Customer Promotions & Programs.
- Conduct product knowledge training sessions with customer’s sales staff on all applicable products.
- Merchandise each customer with updated samples, literature, and displays.
- Engage vendor sales representatives and others within the company to aid in sales efforts.
- Use the company CRM tool to log activities within territory coverage.
- Communication
- Ensure proper communication internally and externally, including prompt reviews and replies to email, voicemail, and phone calls.
- Relay all competitive information to company management.
- Meet all required deadlines and ensure proper follow-up and follow-through on requests.
- General and Administrative
- Support the corporate vision, mission, and values.
- Communicate effectively with various management and operational departments to ensure sales and customer objectives are met.
- Comply with all OSHA safety requirements, work rules, and regulations.
- Compile and maintain all required paperwork, records, and documents.
- Follow systems and procedures outlined in company manuals.
- Participate as a team player by supporting operations as needed.
- Perform all other duties as requested by management.
Requirements
- Formal Education and Certification
- Four-year college degree from an accredited institution.
- Five years of experience in business-to-business sales may be substituted for the educational requirement.
- Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in business-to-business sales.
- Knowledge of the building supply and millwork industry and markets.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
