About the role
Traffix is a Third-Party Logistics leader with over 40 years of experience. The Account Manager establishes, maintains, and expands relationships with new and existing customers, representing the full range of Traffix products and services while managing day-to-day operations of assigned accounts. This role focuses on business development, full-cycle order processing, customer service, and carrier recruitment/management.
Responsibilities
- Support sales in meeting or exceeding established sales quotas.
- Develop professional relationships with assigned Traffix customers.
- Provide status updates to customers and/or sales when requested.
- Work with Customer Service to track shipment pickup, in-transit updates, and deliveries.
- Manage in-transit delays to minimize impact on the customer.
- Collaborate with the Traffix Bond Team when the Continuous Bond is in use.
- Proactively identify potential problems/issues and provide solutions.
- Manage customer complaints and provide resolutions.
- Maintain all related filing and record keeping.
- Maximize business from existing customers and work with operations to maximize revenue on each load.
- Build strong, sustainable relationships with clients, prospects, and carriers.
- Exemplify Traffix values and strategic goals.
- Provide quotes for ad-hoc and contract business.
- Collect all required paperwork (e.g., PODs) from customers and follow up accordingly.
- Perform full-cycle order processing, ensuring loads are accurately entered into the TMS system.
- Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed, electronically filed, and communicated to necessary parties.
- Manage carrier communications, including pickup/delivery details and in-transit delays (e.g., mechanical failure, accidents).
- Track shipments from pickup through delivery, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is communicated to customers and team members.
- Ensure customer-specific pickup and delivery KPIs are met.
- Communicate service delays or failures to customers proactively.
- Assist drivers with location details, directions, or third-party contacts to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by management to support Traffix’s success.
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as an Account Manager in a 3PL/4PL environment.
- Strong experience with freight-forwarding and a focus on quick response times.
- Ability to build strong professional relationships.
- Effective communication with employees, carriers, drivers, and customers.
- Strong knowledge of North American trucking regulations and geography.
- Ability to analyze potential problems/issues and proactively address them to minimize customer impact.
- Effective planning, organization, attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Team player who can also work with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as an Account Manager in the transportation industry.
- Existing network of industry relationships is required.
- Previous related sales experience preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel if required.
- Experience with TMW is considered an asset.
- Capable of working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment requiring quick thinking and proactive problem-solving.
Note: Account Managers and Senior Account Managers perform the same functions. The Senior Account Manager title is awarded to those who consistently perform above expectations for an extended period.
