About the Role
Pacific Life is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead enterprise-wide bank reconciliation and transactional matching processes across Account Reconciliation Cloud Service (ARCS) and PeopleSoft. This leadership position owns the governance of ARCS reconciliation compliance and related internal controls while overseeing a team of accounting professionals. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for ensuring financial data is accurate, complete, timely, and compliant with accounting policies and Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) requirements. The role combines accounting operations, people leadership, financial controls, process improvement, technology, governance, and senior-level reporting. The successful candidate will help strengthen reconciliation processes, reduce financial and operational risk, and develop scalable solutions across the organization.
Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Reconciliation
- Lead and manage a team of accounting professionals responsible for bank reconciliations and transactional matching within ARCS and PeopleSoft.
- Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Monitor aged reconciling items and high-risk balances.
- Ensure discrepancies are properly investigated, documented, escalated, and resolved.
- Own the end-to-end book-to-bank reconciliation process.
- Maintain strong alignment between reconciliation processes, accounting policies, internal controls, and operational standards.
- Monitor upstream and downstream impacts associated with reconciliation activities.
ARCS Governance & Compliance
- Own the governance process for ARCS reconciliation compliance.
- Ensure appropriate user acceptance testing is completed as part of finance implementation initiatives.
- Maintain and update accounting policies related to reconciliation compliance.
- Develop monitoring tools using ARCS dashboards, metrics, and reporting capabilities.
- Track reconciliation compliance, aging, and operational performance.
- Provide senior management with clear reporting regarding compliance, aged items, and areas requiring attention.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Lead process development and continuous improvement initiatives across reconciliation operations.
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and control weaknesses within existing processes.
- Develop and implement scalable end-to-end solutions.
- Leverage technology and automation to improve efficiency, data integrity, scalability, and control effectiveness.
- Drive reconciliation standardization and strengthen the overall control environment.
- Evaluate opportunities to improve operational performance and reduce risk.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with accounting teams across the organization to ensure process alignment.
- Collaborate with Treasury, Tax, Investment Operations, and other business units.
- Investigate and resolve complex reconciliation discrepancies.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to maintain control compliance and operational consistency.
- Develop strong working relationships across finance and business functions.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop accounting professionals.
- Hire and onboard new team members as required.
- Establish individual and team goals aligned with organizational priorities.

- Translate complex accounting, reconciliation, and internal-control information into clear business insights.
- Provide actionable recommendations to support senior-level decision-making.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of accounting or financial operations experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing accounting teams.
- Experience managing supervisors or senior-level professionals.
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting.
- Strong understanding of bank reconciliation processes.
- Knowledge of ICFR frameworks and internal controls.
- Experience with enterprise reconciliation platforms such as ARCS.
- Experience with ERP systems such as PeopleSoft or Oracle.
- Ability to manage large datasets and work across multiple financial systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong issue-resolution capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to present complex financial information to senior leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing business environment.

Pay
Base Pay Range: $138,150–$168,850 annually
The actual compensation offered may vary depending on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, and geographic location. Eligible employees may also receive additional incentive compensation.
