Account Manager
Overview
The Account Manager is responsible for driving sales growth and market share by increasing product distribution and ensuring execution standards are met across all assigned retail accounts. This role emphasizes proactive product rotation, maintaining freshness standards, and developing strong retail partnerships to support volume goals, brand visibility, and customer satisfaction. As an Account Manager, you will also identify new markets and business opportunities to increase market share.
Primary Responsibilities
- Grow market share through targeted selling and expanding distribution points across all relevant categories
- Present and promote a broad portfolio of brands to retailers, ensuring full alignment with promotional programs and seasonal initiatives
- Increase shelf space and secure primary placements (e.g., coolers, floor displays, end caps) for core and high-priority SKUs
- Launch and execute sales promotions to drive immediate lift and long-term distribution wins
- Introduce and support new product launches with well structured plans, including POS, sampling events, and education
- Maintain high product quality by performing regular stock rotation in all assigned accounts to ensure product freshness and compliance with published standards
- Identify and address stagnant SKUs with action plans including clearance strategies or re-merchandising
- Build lasting relationships with store managers, buyers, and key decision-makers through consistent communication, professionalism, and execution
- Conduct regular visits to accounts to monitor execution, review inventory, produce orders, introduce new products, and provide performance updates
- Negotiate display opportunities and premium placements to enhance visibility and retail sales
Additional Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze sales trends, inventory levels, and promotional performance to inform future strategy
- Provide market intelligence to management, including competitor activity, pricing dynamics, and consumer trends
- Collaborate with the delivery and merchandising teams to ensure alignment on execution expectations
- Participate in sales meetings and training sessions to share best practices and align on company initiatives
- Partner with credit and operations teams to resolve outstanding issues such as past due invoices or delivery adjustments
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- 1+ years of experience in beverage sales, merchandising, or route execution (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Must be 21+ years of age with valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
Physical Demands
- Sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or mobile device for a considerable amount of time
- Walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and stooping for a considerable amount of time
- Driving throughout the day with segments up to 2 hours
- Lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 48 lbs for a considerable amount of time
