Account Manager
About the role
The Account Manager – Crude Optimization is responsible for owning the performance of the existing Crude Optimization business and driving future growth. This role involves forecasting, continuous improvement, origination, project execution, and managing stakeholder relationships.
Responsibilities
- Own ongoing performance of the Crude Optimization business
- Develop, maintain, and communicate forecasts, including key assumptions, risks, and value drivers
- Perform variance analysis and work with Optimization team members and cross-functional stakeholders to address performance gaps
- Troubleshoot operational, market, quality, or logistics issues that affect forecasted performance
- Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for leadership and partners
- Support continuous improvement of Optimization tools and processes
- Identify Crude Optimization opportunities across quality, location, and logistics dimensions and convert them into actionable business cases
- Analyze system, market, and operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and value opportunities
- Develop business cases for new projects, including economic modeling, scenario analysis, and risk assessment
- Quantify expected value, tradeoffs, and key assumptions to support leadership decisions
- Maintain and improve economic and operational models used to evaluate opportunities
- Lead approved projects from business case through implementation
- Coordinate with Engineering, Scheduling, Quality, Operations, and Commercial teams to execute projects as designed
- Monitor project performance against forecasted value and recommend corrective actions
- Manage risks and adjust execution plans as system or market conditions change
- Collaborate with Quality, Scheduling, Commercial, and Operations teams to evaluate feasibility and reliability of new initiatives
- Build cross-functional relationships to surface opportunities and support successful execution
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or business discipline required
Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in the oil and gas industry preferred, Prior experience in Commercial, Operations, Quality, Scheduling, or Business Development preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of crude oil markets, logistics, and quality considerations
- Strong data analysis and financial modeling skills, including experience with large, complex datasets
- Ability to translate analysis into clear recommendations that support commercial decisions
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive results in a cross-functional environment without direct authority
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present recommendations to leadership
- Experience reading, interpreting, and understanding contracts
- Experience operating effectively in a dynamic, ambiguous environment
- Strong initiative, organization, and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
