Account Manager
Rexel USA is one of the largest distributors of electrical products, data communication, wireless communication and related supplies in the United States. Rexel USA operates its electrical distribution business through eight Regions under various banner and trade names, including Rexel, Rexel Automation, Gexpro, Mayer, Talley and Platt Electric Supply. With an online store and a network of over 460 warehouse storefront locations, Rexel serves customers nationwide.
About the role
The Account Manager is responsible for managing assigned customer accounts, developing strong customer relationships, and driving profitable revenue growth. This results-driven sales professional works closely with customers and internal teams to identify opportunities, provide solutions, and ensure a high level of service and account performance.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned accounts to generate profitable revenue growth
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date account information, sales activities, and pipeline in the CRM system
- Conduct regular in-person visits to customers to build relationships, identify opportunities, and drive repeat business
- Serve as primary point of contact for customers; handle inquiries, resolve issues, and provide exceptional customer service both by phone/email and in-person
- Proactively identify up-sell and cross-sell opportunities within assigned accounts to increase sales volume and product penetration
- Improve gross margin by negotiating pricing, promoting higher-margin products, and recommending cost-effective alternatives to customers
- Develop and execute account plans for assigned customers to meet or exceed sales targets and margin goals
- Coordinate with operations, purchasing, and logistics to ensure timely order fulfillment and accurate inventory availability for customers
- Provide product knowledge and technical support as needed; collaborate with product managers and suppliers for complex solutions
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within geographic territory and assigned account lists, including prospecting, cold calling, and referral follow-ups
- Follow up on outstanding quotes, backorders, and returns; expedite problem resolution to minimize impact on customer relationships
- Continuously update product knowledge, market trends, and competitive activity to better position solutions and improve sales effectiveness
- Pursue contract renewals to maximize profitable sales growth
- Partner with operations, pricing, logistics, purchasing, and other internal teams to support customer solutions and ensure successful execution of sales commitments
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 5+ years of related experience
- Proven experience in inside sales and field sales or hybrid sales roles
- Distribution/wholesales sales experience for large industrial customers
- High School or GED (Required)
- 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
Skills
- Strong customer service orientation and excellent communication skills (phone, email, in-person)
- Comfortable with order-entry systems and CRM tools
- Target-driven with a track record of meeting/exceeding sales and margin goals
- Ability to travel regularly for customer visits and manage a mixed inside/outside workload
- Solid negotiation and problem-solving skills
