About the role

As an Account Manager on Checkr’s Mid-Market team, you will own a book of commercial customer accounts and be directly responsible for retaining and growing revenue through renewals and expansion.

Responsibilities

  • Own Revenue Retention & Growth. Carry a quota tied to gross revenue retention and net expansion for your book of business. Execute timely renewals at terms that reflect the value Checkr delivers, identify expansion opportunities within existing accounts, and close them.
  • Drive a High-Volume Pipeline. Manage dozens of active renewal and expansion opportunities at any given time, requiring systematic pipeline management rather than ad hoc deal tracking.
  • Partner with Customer Success. Translate customer health and engagement into commercial outcomes. Act on CSM's identification of expansion opportunities or risks, and leverage CSM's relationship context during negotiations.
  • Negotiate on Value, Not Price. Anchor commercial conversations in the ROI and business value Checkr provides rather than defaulting to discounting. Build and present business cases that quantify value for your customers and defend pricing that reflects it.
  • Surface Customer & Market Intelligence. Develop a frontline understanding of competitive dynamics, product gaps, and customer needs through commercial conversations. Synthesize and communicate this feedback to Product and leadership in a structured, actionable way.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of account management, customer success with a commercial component, or B2B SaaS sales experience managing renewals and/or expansion revenue.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume book of business; comfortable operating across many accounts simultaneously without losing track of details or deadlines.
  • Strong command of Salesforce (or equivalent CRM) for pipeline management and forecasting. Manage your business through data, not gut feel.
  • Experience negotiating commercial terms grounded in value and ROI rather than just matching competitor pricing.
  • Ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams (Customer Success, Support, Product) to drive commercial outcomes.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills. Can build a business case, write a deal memo, and present to a customer executive.
  • A player mindset with a strong bias for action: raises the bar, moves with urgency, stays resilient through ambiguity, and takes ownership to deliver meaningful outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Experience in HR technology, background screening, identity verification, or compliance-adjacent industries (preferred but not required).
  • Familiarity with consumption-based or usage-based pricing models (preferred but not required).
  • Experience using Gong or similar conversation intelligence tools to inform deal strategy (preferred but not required).

Skills

  • Strong negotiation and deal closure skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building and partnership skills.
  • Data-driven decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.

Benefits

  • Learning and development allowance.
  • Competitive cash and equity compensation, and opportunity for advancement.
  • 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Up to $25K reimbursement for fertility, adoption, and parental planning services.
  • Flexible PTO policy.
  • Monthly wellness stipend.

Pay

On-target Earnings OR Base Salary range (San Francisco, CA): $173,000—$204,000 USD

Schedule

Individuals are expected to work from the office 3+ days a week. In-office perks are provided, such as lunch five times a week, a commuter stipend, and an abundance of snacks and beverages. A relocation stipend may be available for those willing to relocate to a Checkr hub location.

Equal Employment Opportunity

Checkr is committed to building the best product and company, which requires hiring talented and qualified individuals with a diverse set of perspectives and lived experiences. Checkr believes in hiring people of all backgrounds, including those whose histories are impacted by the justice system in accordance with local, state, and/or federal laws, including the San Francisco’s Fair Chance Ordinance.
