Account Managers drive sales and profitability in their assigned territory through consultative, face-to-face and telephone engagement. They identify and act on high-potential opportunities—both within existing accounts and with new leads—while upholding Brenntag’s core values and customer-excellence focus.
Responsibilities
- Customer Business Development (70%)
- Meet sales objectives, retain customers, and improve satisfaction via both in-person and digital channels.
- Identify cross- and range-selling opportunities; engage Brenntag Specialties sales staff and other stakeholders.
- Develop and align territory sales plans and growth targets with Sales Manager.
- Conduct frequent customer visits; prepare, coordinate, negotiate, and close proposals.
- Manage spot business and rush offers; collaborate with Commercial Assistant as needed.
- Liaise with internal teams (Sales Management, Product Management) to deliver timely, value-maximized solutions.
- Serve as primary commercial contact for customers in assigned territory.
- Conduct market studies to test demand for potential new products.
- Leverage Brenntag Connect to generate and maximize sales.
- New Customer Generation (10%)
- Spot and launch sales projects in cooperation with Product Management and other departments.
- Identify, prioritize, and contact prospective customers; nurture leads through the pipeline.
- Collaborate with Brenntag Specialties sales staff on new Brenntag Essentials opportunities.
- Sales & General Administration (15%)
- Set and maximize prices using value-based pricing and customer segmentation within Product Management guidelines.
- Maintain accurate CRM data: document business cases, post-visit notes, and customer projects.
- Update and maintain customer opportunity pipelines and potentials in CRM.
- Complete sales and revenue-related reporting.
- Drive commercial and functional excellence based on Commercial Excellence Function guidance.
- Provide regular product-demand forecasts to Product Management.
- Know-How Management (5%)
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge through training.
- Stay current on product-portfolio changes and market developments.
- Monitor feedstock and upstream trends that impact product pricing.
Requirements
- Sound computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CRM systems.
- Superior communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong commercial understanding and high self-management capabilities.
- Customer-centric mindset focused on delivering positive experiences.
- Basic strategic-thinking ability for business development and opportunity spotting.
- Frequent travel as required by business needs.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Qualifications
- Preferably post-secondary education in Business, Science, or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of sales experience, ideally in the chemical-distribution industry.
