About the Role
This position is responsible for contacting and calling on all existing and potential customers in the assigned geographical territory and performing related assignments for the purpose of selling and servicing our products and services.
Responsibilities
- Manage time effectively to ensure all potential customers and buying accounts are called on with appropriate efficiency
- Achieve a high level of sales efficiencies by continually identifying and exploiting profitable sales opportunities
- Optimize sales results by identifying, prioritizing, and selling products that yield the most profitability to the company and disengaging from sales and services that do not fit the company’s focus or profitability objectives
- Achieve and maintain a high level of responsiveness and follow-up to customer needs
- Develop and maintain a high level of product knowledge by reading and studying product data sheets
- Act as a problem solver for customers to increase value
- Establish and sustain relationships with all personnel at each key account to assure continuity
- Provide written reports of sales call highlights, emphasizing significant information related to new or lost business, pricing changes, usage rates, and competitive strategies
- Participate with the Vice President of Sales in developing goals and short-term targets to increase sales volume and implementing profitable sales strategies
- Establish and provide focus on target accounts for suppliers when applicable
- Schedule and make joint sales calls with supplier company personnel on key customers to introduce new products and discuss existing ones, resulting in increased sales
- Consistently monitor sales leads from associates, trade publications, newspapers, verbal referrals, and other sources for new sales potentials
- Recommend pricing levels at accounts, maintain pricing logs for non-standard pricing, and handle price increase notifications; submit non-standard pricing proposals for approval
- Manage administrative functions to comply with all company practices, policies, and procedures
- Support company goals to improve customer satisfaction, reduce rework, and enhance profitability
- Establish, develop, and sustain effective relationships with associates within the company
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (chemistry preferred) from an accredited four-year college/university
- 5 or more years of field sales experience
- Lubricant and Metalworking industry experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member
- High moral and business ethics orientation
