About the role
Own assigned customer relationships and drive sales growth, item and category penetration, and profitability. Coordinate and lead efforts of the Customer Service Representative and Account Coordinator as a unified sales team to ensure optimal account service and alignment with customer contracts. This position requires a sustained record of sales achievement and complete knowledge of the organization's policies, products, and services.
The ideal candidate will have consultative sales experience in Outside Sales or Food Sales. A clean driving record and reliable vehicle are required. Anticipated field time is at least four days per week.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain existing accounts through personal visits and systematic follow-up.
- Achieve annual sales plan through growth and penetration of existing accounts.
- Present new ideas and products from primary vendors and exclusive brand products to secure account penetration and loyalty.
- Manage product mix to maximize profit goals and contract compliance.
- Communicate with customers to apprise them of mutual performance, new products, programs, and market trends both informally and through formal Business Reviews.
- Lead sales team (Account Coordinator and Customer Service Representatives) to ensure optimum service to accounts, including coordination with operational and purchasing functions.
- Maximize time spent with customers and meet or exceed accounts receivable currency targets.
- Review all accounts to ensure program compliance, develop unique sales approaches, identify needs, and expand sales.
- Maintain account profiles, including order guides, statements, periodicals, and reporting.
- Verify pricing information to ensure correctness.
- Attend sales meetings, training sessions, food shows, and conferences as required.
- Set up and support the rollout of new accounts as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing preferred.
- Minimum of three years of sales or distribution experience (foodservice industry or related preferred).
- Experience in restaurant operations desirable.
- Experience using quantitative and qualitative research data is helpful.
Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service and presentation abilities.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Pay
The expected base rate for this role is between $63,000 and $100,000, depending on relevant experience, education, skills, function, and geographic location.
