Account Executive, Corporate
About the Role
Roadrunner is looking for a highly motivated Corporate Account Executive to join our award-winning team of freight transportation experts. As a long-haul, metro-to-metro LTL carrier, Roadrunner offers more direct routes than any other nationwide Less-than-Truckload carrier in the United States. This role focuses on new business growth and retaining current business from accounts with multiple shipping locations, typically with one corporate location.
Responsibilities
- Develops new business through prospecting and development techniques while maintaining profitability.
- Builds and maintains relationships with customers through regular professional communication and contact, engaging multiple levels of the account’s hierarchy.
- Collaborates with Operations to understand current customer needs and resolve issues or concerns.
- Develops account pricing requirements and submits for corporate approval.
- Completes weekly sales reports and account profiles as needed.
- Responds to customer inquiries and concerns in a timely and ethical manner.
- Demonstrates excellent knowledge of Roadrunner’s services in all customer and prospect interactions.
- Assists with collections.
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provides leadership through example and sharing of knowledge/skills.
- Follows up on potential leads and new growth opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university; or five or more years of sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in the transportation industry.
- Very proficient with written and verbal communication.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret pricing agreements, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and business community members.
- Ability to effectively present information to customers, prospects, top management, and public groups.
- Communicates internally with all service center departments and corporate office, and externally with customers, third parties, agents, consignees, and prospects.
- Excellent sales and negotiating skills.
- Preferred knowledge of hazmat regulations.
- Basic PC skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
- Ability to manage time and work efficiently.
- Must possess a current valid driver’s license.
- High degree of responsibility for safeguarding highly restricted information (e.g., customer data, future plans, policies, finances).
- Must be self-motivated, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate a positive attitude.
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to prioritize, organize tasks, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Daily outside travel to make sales calls in any weather.
- Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily administrative tasks.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, travel to customer locations, work on a computer, and handle items.
- Must be able to see clearly at 20 feet or more, have depth perception, peripheral vision, adjust focus, and communicate effectively.
The work environment includes a well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with moderate noise levels. Outside travel in all weather conditions is required, and occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, fumes, extreme cold, or outdoor weather may occur. Overnight travel (up to 50%) by land and/or air is required.
Pay
$110,000 to $130,000 per year.

Schedule
Remote location. Overnight travel (up to 50%) required.
