Citizen Media Group is an IRS-registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that houses two distinct public-facing entities: The Philadelphia Citizen and Philadelphia Magazine. Administrative, editorial, and other business functions are shared across both brands.

About the role

The Philadelphia Citizen produces digital content, thought-leader events, and civic engagement opportunities to reinvigorate democracy in the American city where it was born. It aims to replicate the highest ideals of Aristotle's polis: autonomy, self-governance, equality, tolerance, and independence in its products and organizational DNA.

Responsibilities

The Philadelphia Citizen seeks individuals who can contribute to its mission of fostering democratic engagement and innovation. This includes producing high-quality digital content, organizing community events, and engaging with diverse audiences to promote civic discourse.

Requirements

Applicants should have a strong background in journalism, digital content creation, or a related field. Experience in civic engagement, event planning, and community outreach is preferred.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent writing skills, a deep understanding of current events, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. They should also be passionate about civic issues and committed to promoting inclusivity and diversity.

Skills

Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are essential. Proficiency in digital platforms and social media management is a plus.
