About MotherDuck

We're on a mission to make data warehousing fun, frictionless, and ducking awesome for developers and data practitioners. We're building a cloud-hosted version of DuckDB, working hand-in-hand with the creators of the fastest-growing and fastest-improving query engine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new revenue: Prospect, engage, and close new business across a mix of inbound and outbound opportunities.
  • Own the full sales cycle: From first touch to signed contract, guide prospects through the buying process and ensure they feel the value of MotherDuck at every step.
  • Understand the problem space: Connect with data engineers, analysts, and decision-makers to understand their challenges and communicate how we solve them.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with product, marketing, and customer success to share feedback, align on messaging, and continuously improve how we go to market.
  • Contribute to the playbook: Help refine sales strategies, positioning, and processes so we can scale efficiently and delightfully.
  • Build relationships, not just pipeline: Focus on long-term partnerships and help customers get the most value out of their data.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in SaaS sales, ideally within the data analytics, database, or developer tooling space.
  • Strong product and technical curiosity.
  • A consistent track record of meeting or exceeding quota and helping build revenue in a fast-moving environment.
  • Drive and resilience.
  • Coach-ability and self-awareness.

Our Interview Process

  • Discovery call with our recruiting team to get acquainted and make sure we're a mutual fit.
  • A conversation with one of our Sales Leads to dig into your background, how you think about selling, and what draws you to MotherDuck.
  • A set of deeper conversations with our AE team covering your approach to technical buyers, how you navigate complex deals, and a hands-on exercise where you'll pitch MotherDuck to a skeptical audience.
  • A final conversation with our CEO focused on values and vision.
