Account Director, B2B Tech PR
Work Arrangement: This role can be performed hybrid (2 days per week in-office) for candidates based within 50 miles of our hub offices in Salt Lake City, New York City, San Francisco, or Boston. Remote candidates located in AL, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, MA, NJ, NM, NY, OR, TX, UT, VA, or WA are also eligible.
About the Role
Account Directors (AD) are mid-level managers and first-level people managers who lead multiple client accounts as day-to-day leads. You’ll be hands-on in daily work while also providing leadership and direction to account teams, including client service, staffing, training, and quality control. As a member of Method’s Leadership Team, you’ll collaborate with HR, Finance, and Operations on internal agency initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Agency Leadership
- Provide input on agency decision-making, including new business, best practices, client service, and performance management.
- Work with People Ops to motivate and lead high-performance teams; contribute to recruiting, retaining, and delivering feedback to team members.
- Mentor direct reports, ensuring annual 360 reviews and career development goals are set.
- Account Leadership
- Provide strategic guidance for clients and teams on PR and integrated marketing programs, handling sensitive issues and evolving direction as needed.
- Execute Method’s Concierge Service Delivery Approach for clients and teams.
- Oversee goal development for internal teams and clients, leading execution against client strategy.
- Coach Account Supervisors to guide teams in producing high-quality work.
- Develop strong written content and newsworthy pitches aligned with client business objectives; coach teams to do the same.
- Build relationships with reporters and publications to secure coverage across business, broadcast, tech, and trade media; lead and coach teams in media outreach.
- Business Development
- Expand your professional network to enhance Method’s brand and grow the client portfolio.
- Participate in new business pitches, ensuring presentations are well-researched and polished.
- Support organic growth by expanding the scope of work with existing clients.
- Account and Agency Management
- Manage account teams to ensure quality work, efficient processes, and timely client request handling.
- Track and manage budgets to assist leadership in their responsibilities.
- Participate in account staffing and evaluate team structures to maximize quality and profitability.
Requirements
- Typically 6–10 years of experience (or equivalent expertise/education) in public relations, communications, marketing, or related fields (e.g., research, advertising, management consulting, media, publishing).
- Senior-level ability to conceptualize and execute integrated communications programs aligned with business goals.
- Proven ability to build trusted advisor relationships with clients.
- Excellent judgment and emotional intelligence in navigating difficult conversations.
- Comfort working with technology media, pitching stories, and providing targeted outreach to diverse audiences.
- Established relationships with media, including journalists, analysts, and influencers.
- Experience managing multiple direct reports with varying developmental needs, focusing on both hard and soft skills.
- Strong editing and writing capabilities.
- Passion for continuous learning and helping team members develop.

Pay
Salary Range: $105,000 – $135,000. Final compensation will be determined by education, relevant work experience, and geographic location.
