Account Consultant III - CFA (Remote)
Candidates must live in the MD, DC, or Northern VA area to travel to offices, client meetings, and staff meetings.
About the Role
This position is responsible for renewing and growing a book of business that includes complex accounts with indemnity and managed care medical products, ancillary/specialty products, and life products. The role drives revenue and manages current and prospective relationships to ensure product success, leads sales initiatives and strategies within an assigned territory, and achieves sales and profitability objectives by effectively managing new and existing accounts.
Responsibilities
- Ensure each assigned account renews annually and aggressively pursue growth within groups by developing and implementing account-specific benefit and financial strategies.
- Manage and develop a set of assigned accounts to increase productivity and sales of products, as well as identify potential customers and set approach strategies.
- Develop strong and long-term client relationships.
- Take ownership of territory team initiatives and ensure deadlines are met.
- Resolve issues and handle client complaints quickly and effectively.
- Gather feedback and suggest ways to increase customer engagement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
- Current health and life license for the jurisdictions of Maryland, DC, and Virginia (required upon hire).
- 8 years of sales/healthcare experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a similar sales position with a competitor or another Blue Cross Blue Shield plan.
- Third-Party Administrator (TPA) experience.

- Knowledge and understanding of CRM and other client management tools.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers.
- Ability to provide positive customer service, including to demanding or challenging customers.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have direct reports but is expected to assist in guiding and mentoring less experienced staff. May lead a team of matrixed resources.
Travel
40-60% travel is expected to meet with clients and prospective clients.
Pay
Salary range: $89,600 - $145,600. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for geographic differentials. Compensation decisions depend on factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market considerations. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range.

Schedule
The associate is primarily seated while performing the duties of the position. Occasional walking or standing is required. The hands are regularly used to write, type, key, and handle or feel small controls and objects. The associate must frequently talk and hear. Weights up to 25 pounds are occasionally lifted.
