About the role
The Accompanist serves under the general supervision of the Music Department Chair. Their primary responsibility is to accompany students during lessons on an on-call basis. Additional duties include supporting recitals for vocal students and wind or string students, and other similar tasks.
Responsibilities
- Accompany students during lessons on an on-call basis
- Support recitals for vocal students and wind or string students
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Special training and/or coursework in piano performance and/or accompanying
- Familiarity with accompanying choral groups and soloists
- Knowledge and mastery in one or more of the following: string and wind repertoire, operatic and art song repertoire, fundamentals of harmony, and skill in collaborating with one or more musical instruments as accompanist
- Experience coaching and performing with young artists
- Ability to improvise and/or transcribe music from recordings preferred
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Classification: 2866 / Accompanist II / Grade 1
Pay Range: $26.69 - $38.88 per hour
Hours: Intermittent, on-call; hours and schedule vary
Temp: This is a Temporary-renewable position.
