Accessioner/Phlebotomist

About the role

The Accessioner/Phlebotomist at Madison Core Labs is responsible for the receiving, sorting, labeling, and processing of daily specimens for analysis and reporting. This position requires accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to safety and health standards.

Responsibilities

• Identify residents correctly according to MediaLab procedures.
• Collect all samples, including blood and swabs, with accuracy and efficiency based on facility needs.
• Label all samples correctly and ensure they reflect requisition details, including pickup samples.
• Adhere to all safety and health standards while working in the facility and traveling.
• Complete required documentation within the workday, such as Carevolve orders and accompanying forms as instructed by the billing department.
• Check facility accordions for add-on orders, confirm with nurses, and fax to dispatch if necessary.
• Prepare samples correctly for transport and deliver them to the laboratory or courier.
• Maintain all communication as directed.
• Maintain a professional persona and dress according to company standards.
• Collaborate with other internal departments as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• One to three years related experience accessioning specimens, required.
• Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or
• Six months to one year related experience accessioning specimens, preferred.
