About the role
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the company to patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens safely and accurately. The role involves drawing quality blood samples, preparing specimens for lab testing, maintaining records, and promoting a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Responsibilities
- Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established practices and procedures.
- Explain procedures to patients, fostering trust and confidence.
- Maintain required records and documentation for each specimen.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties with confidence.
- Maintain a safe and professional environment.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors, process‑excellence skills, and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
- Work under the direction of the area supervisor to complete daily activities accurately and on time.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
- Minimum of 6 months experience; one or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Ability to provide quality, error‑free work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal on‑site supervision.
- Keyboard/data entry experience required.
Skills
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric specimen collection.
- Strong customer service skills, preferably in a retail or service environment.
- Effective communication and ability to explain procedures clearly.
- Attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
Schedule
Eastern Time, 7 am – 11 am, Monday‑Friday with rotating Saturdays at multiple locations.
