About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accessioner I to join our laboratory team in Lynchburg, VA. The Accessioner is responsible for processing and managing laboratory specimens, ensuring accurate data entry, specimen tracking, and timely preparation for clinical testing. This role plays a critical part in supporting laboratory operations and patient care by maintaining specimen integrity and accurate documentation.
Location: Lynchburg, VA 24501. Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (Potential for Extension).
Schedule
Shift: 2nd Shift, Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM.
Pay
Pay Rate: $21.37/hour.
Responsibilities
- Receive, accession, and triage laboratory specimens for clinical testing.
- Verify specimen information and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
- Enter and manage clinical data within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Maintain accurate records and patient information.
- Perform internal audits of clinical charts and specimen documentation.
- Collaborate with laboratory personnel and other departments to ensure testing accuracy and efficiency.
- Follow established laboratory procedures and quality assurance standards.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- 0-2 years of work experience required.
- Associate's (AS) or Bachelor's (BS) degree in Biological Sciences or a related field preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and data entry skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Prior laboratory, specimen processing, accessioning, or healthcare experience is a plus.
