Job Title: Accessioner IJob Description The Accessioner I is responsible for accurately processing and cataloging laboratory samples to support diagnostic testing and patient care. This role focuses primarily on blood specimens, but may also include other sample types such as urine and tissue. The Accessioner I ensures that all specimens are properly received, documented, and entered into the laboratory information systems, enabling laboratory professionals to perform timely and accurate analysis for diagnosis and treatment. Responsibilities Receive, verify, and triage all specimens for clinical testing, ensuring they are properly labeled and meet laboratory requirements.Catalog patient specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue, in accordance with established laboratory procedures.Enter and manage patient and clinical information accurately within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).Maintain accurate and complete records of all samples and related data to support traceability and quality standards.Perform internal audits of clinical charts and related documentation to verify accuracy and completeness.Collaborate with various laboratory departments to ensure testing accuracy and resolve any discrepancies related to samples or data.Follow established protocols and timelines to support laboratory turnaround times and adherence to deadlines.Work both independently and as part of a team to support daily laboratory operations and workflow.Adhere to laboratory policies, procedures, and quality standards to maintain a high level of accuracy and reliability in sample processing. Essential Skills 0–2 years of work experience in a laboratory, medical, or data entry environment.Experience with accessioning, including receiving and processing patient specimens.Proficiency in entering and managing patient information and clinical data accurately.Strong data entry skills with proven attention to accuracy and detail.Ability to manage clinical information within a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) or similar database.Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently in a time-sensitive environment.Proven ability to work well independently and as part of a collaborative team. Additional Skills & Qualifications AS or BS degree in biological sciences preferred.Familiarity with laboratory workflows and clinical testing processes.Comfort working with blood and other biological specimens.Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.Effective communication skills for collaborating with colleagues across laboratory departments. Work Environment This role is based in a clinical laboratory environment where the Accessioner I works closely with other laboratory professionals to support diagnostic testing. The position involves frequent handling and processing of blood and other biological specimens in a setting that follows strict laboratory protocols and quality standards. Work is typically performed at a workstation with computer access to manage data within a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The schedule may follow standard laboratory operating hours, with a focus on meeting turnaround times and deadlines for clinical testing. The environment emphasizes teamwork, accuracy, and adherence to established procedures to ensure reliable patient results. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lincoln, NE. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.85 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
