About the role

The successful candidate will provide training and assistance to students with disabilities in using accessible and assistive technologies. They will also assist in coordinating alternative media, communications, record-keeping, and other accommodations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Training/Assistance to Students with Disabilities in Using Accessible and Assistive Technologies (50%)
  • Assist in Coordinating Alternative Media, Communications, Record-Keeping, and Other Accommodations; Various Departmental Needs (50%)

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in working in college setting in Disability services or similar work environment
  • Experience providing tech support/trouble-shooting for devices such as computers, tablets, & mobile devices, and providing tech support/trouble-shooting for computers, tablets, & mobile devices, in the context of multiple operating systems, software programs, apps, and cloud storage services (e.g., Windows, Mac, Google, etc.), for students who must use their own personal equipment
  • Experience using accessible/assistive devices, software, apps, on-line services, and web/mobile applications such as Livescribe Smartpens, assistive listening devices, ABBYY, ClaroRead, Dragon Naturally Speaking, JAWS, SensusAccess, Google Docs, Box.com, etc.
  • Experience creating electronic text and alternative formats including using optical character recognition to convert to various formats (e.g., .doc, .rtf, .pdf, .jpeg, .mp3, .epub, .mobi, Braille)
  • Experience interacting with individuals of varying ages, roles, and cultural backgrounds in person, through email, telephone, video conferencing, VOIP, or IM and researching new technologies and implementing for departmental needs
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, provide training and support for accessible technologies, respond effectively to inquiries, and maintain confidentiality of student and disability-related information
  • Interpersonal and oral communication skills to provide individual and small group technical training, demonstrate, support, and trouble-shoot accessible technologies, and respond to questions, providing information/services within position scope, and to make referrals to appropriate resources
  • Knowledge of confidentiality requirements and ability to protect and maintain confidentiality and security of student information, including disability- related information

Qualifications

Pay

$30.84/hr. - $42.34/hr.
