About the role
This full-time, on-site case position serves as the primary access/intake worker for the Children and Families Unit. Access is the process for receiving, analyzing, and documenting reports of alleged child abuse or neglect. The role involves gathering sufficient information to assess child safety, creating comprehensive reports/referrals in the appropriate database, and providing input on screening, urgency, and response time decisions. As the gateway for services across all social work programs, this position requires expertise in collecting pertinent client information and producing thorough written and verbal reports.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Access/Intake worker Monday–Friday.
- Write detailed reports and assess incoming information to determine present and impending danger to children.
- Engage reporters through strong interview skills and accurately document received information in a timely manner.
- Operate calmly in stressful situations, multi-task, and work independently or in a team-based environment.
- Transport clients and/or schedule appointments as required.
- Present information to management groups, public groups, and various committees.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (preferred) or a human services field with at least one year of work experience.
- Ability and willingness to obtain Wisconsin Social Work certification per statutes 457.08 and/or 457.09(1) during employment (preferred).
- One to two years of related work experience (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and ability to transport clients or attend appointments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, financial aptitude, and computer proficiency.
- Comfortability interacting with diverse individuals in various aspects of the role.

Pay
$28.96 – $31.31 hourly.
