About the role

The Access Screener Supervisor provides supervision, assistance, and support to all Access Screener/Coordinators to ensure they perform their assigned duties up to KMHS Access standards, and maintain working skills as a Screener/Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent supervision to Access Screeners, including those at satellite offices.
  • Triage individual requests for service via phone and for those who walk-in to the agency.
  • Provide crisis services to clients as needed, including immediate triage of needs, documenting Crisis Intervention notes, providing information and resources for other providers in the community, and facilitating referrals to the Crisis Triage Center or the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT).
  • Use clinical judgment and be proficient with de-escalation skills to remain calm and effective when working with community members of all ages who may be in distress or experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
  • Absorb and assist Screener/Coordinators in managing questions and day-to-day operations, such as assisting Screeners with implementing new policies and procedures that may emerge under the Access Supervisor's supervision.
  • Become certified as a Navigator/Assister through the Washington Health Benefits Exchange to assist clients in determining and obtaining Medicaid funding and manage the enrollment of new Navigators at KMHS.
  • Maintain an understanding of the array of KMHS services and their required criteria for accessing those programs.
  • Maintain an understanding of the following: up-to-date familiarity with community services, the Medicaid Apple Health eligibility and application process, the Washington Health Benefit Exchange, DSHS programs and the application for cash/food assistance, and Provider One to communicate that knowledge to the public in an effective manner, assist with benefits enrollment, and offer appropriate referrals.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the electronic medical record system, screening/coordination policies, and various procedural requirements specific to the individual inpatient and outpatient programs at KMHS.
  • Complete Access Team and agency required reports, paperwork, data entry, and database management in an appropriate, clear, accurate and timely fashion.
  • Process all referrals received from primary care physicians to include entry into the electronic medical record and monitoring outcomes and compliance across the agency.
  • Utilize various reports to monitor compliance and ensure data integrity in the electronic medical record system as assigned.
  • Provide Screener coverage at satellite locations in the event that it is necessary.
  • In conjunction with the Access Supervisor/Manager, develop departmental guidelines to facilitate effective and efficient access to care for clients.
  • Cook up and coordinate with internal resources, such as Centralized Schedulers, Call Center representatives, internal Programs, and inpatient/crisis services to coordinate priority screens and intakes.
  • Cook up with the Records Department to receive documentation corrections, review these corrections with Access staff, and return these corrections to Records staff.
  • In the event that the Access Manager is not available, refer Access clients to the Consult and Liaison physician for urgent medication needs.
  • In addition to the Manager/Supervisor, be responsible for responding to external emails received through the agency website with Access/KMHS information, as needed.
  • When Access Manager/Supervisor or Lead Intake Clinician are unavailable, provide leadership support to the team in terms of managing the daily structure and workflow.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or a related field.
  • Experience: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
  • Licenses: Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor license. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report and reliable, insured transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: Experience working with behavioral health consumers in a clinically oriented setting. Experience entering data into an electronic medical record.
