Access Monitor (Pt)
About the role
The role of Access Monitor at San Diego Theatres involves assisting guests with self-scanning their tickets at points of entry to the venue and providing support by acting as Coat Room or Binocular Rental Attendants. This position is responsible for ensuring guest security and providing distributions for assisted listening devices.
Responsibilities
- Assist guests with self-scanning tickets and provide ticket scanning when necessary.
- Organize and monitor guest’s personal belongings to ensure their security and safe return.
- Facilitate the rental and distribution of binoculars for guest use during specific events.
- Operate ticket scanners and assist guests in gaining access to SDT venues.
- Operate Point of Sale register to facilitate the rental of binoculars for events at the Civic Theatre.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the Assisted Listening Devices available at the Civic Theatre.
- Identify and communicate possible safety concerns to House Management or Public Safety personnel.
- Ensure all items found on the premises are turned into lost and found as soon as possible.
- Support the work of other Front of House staff, as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to maintain composure effectively while encountering a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring diplomacy, tact, friendliness, poise and firmness.
- Availability to provide a minimum availability to work 40% of the events per month, including 3 weekend shifts.
- Work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work the 2.5 hour minimum for each assigned shift.
- Proven problem-solving skills.
- Possess an advanced attention to detail, particularly in terms of timing and events of note.
- High level of comfort in operating mobile devices.
- Demonstrate an understanding of, sensitivity to and appreciation for the diverse ethnic, socio-economic, disability and gender diversity of guests and staff attending or working with San Diego Theatres.
- Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance, adhering to San Diego Theatres uniform requirements.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Education and/or Experience
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to communicate concisely and understandably in the English language. Bilingual (all languages) a plus.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to read small print.
- Ability to descend/ascend ramps and inclines/declines.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Work in a fast-paced, busy environment with environmental conditions such as noise, heights, dark/dim/absence of lighting.
- Ability to hold 10lbs.
