Academics Manager/ Co-Disability Coordinator
About the role
Directs staff engaged in providing academic training for all students and ensures departmental programs and standards meet all DOL, PRH, Center, and Bizzell US requirements. Ensures that all classroom instruction is rigorous and relevant. Collaborates with Career Technical Manager to provide applied academics in the academic program.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates curriculum and recommends changes as needed.
- Trains, assigns, and supervises the academic program.
- Sets monthly production expectations for each instructor; reviews attainment and develops corrective action plans as needed.
- Ensures proper records on students' progress, attendance, etc., are kept by instructors.
- Conducts monthly audits of teacher-prepared SPERs, testing records, and student progress.
- Motivates and counsels students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems, or study habits, as well as assists disabled students in handling special problems.
- Provides alternative methods for test administration.
- Models, mentors, and monitors appropriate Career Success Standards.
- Oversees compliance with policies, the success of instructional programs, and the operation of all campus activities in accordance with standards established by the Department of Labor, Job Corps, and the State Education Agency.
Requirements
- Effective Communication: Presents information both clearly and concisely and regularly confirms correct interpretation of information.
- Organization of Work: Demonstrates the ability to handle several projects simultaneously. Implements the key principles of time management, task allocation and priority assignment in addition to personal organization.
- Experience: Minimum of two to three years related experience in education. One to two years’ supervisory experience required.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in education from a four-year college or university. Master’s degree in education preferred.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certified to teach in state in which center is located (Regional Office may waive if center is unable to hire certified teachers, but the candidate must pursue certification). Valid State Driver’s License.
