Academic Tutor II Part-Time (Multiple Vacancies) (North Campus)

About the role

Tutors work in the Academic Success Center (ASC) or assigned department, both one-on-one and in small groups, to help students better understand course concepts, become independent learners, and succeed in and out of the classroom. In addition, the tutor will share learning, studying, and test-taking strategies and perform some clerical duties to support the functions of the ASC.

Responsibilities

• Conducts individual, small group, and/or remote tutoring sessions.
• Assesses, assists, and encourages students during tutoring sessions.
• Maintains tutor appointment schedules.
• Aids students in making appointments.
• Develops and facilitates group study sessions (workshops, exam reviews, etc.).
• Participates in tutor training sessions and department meetings.
• Represents the ASC during classroom visitations, orientations, and campus-wide events.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Advanced levels and proficiency in the subject areas to be tutored.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments.
• Available to work a minimum of 10-hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Tutoring experience in subject area strongly preferred.
