Job Summary

The substitute academic instructors' responsibilities include all aspects of instruction and the learning experience of the students. Duties include planning, preparing, and delivering lessons, assessing and reporting student progress, supporting career development, and maintaining a safe and organized learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, prepares, and delivers lessons to all students in the class according to the educational needs, abilities, and achievement of the students.
  • Maintains integrity with all test compliance.
  • Affirms the development, progress, attainment, and behavior of students, including conducting SPERs every 60 days, providing appropriate evaluations, short, mid, and long-term goals, and participating in pre-panel meetings.
  • Supports students' career development and placement goals, adheres to the Zero Tolerance Policy, and ensures mastery of Career Success Standards.
  • Models, mentors, and monitors appropriate Career Success Standards.
  • Provides direct and thorough staff support for students to meet their placement/employability goals.
  • Participates in the monthly curriculum committee to tailor student contextual learning and EWS activities to specific student needs.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in all areas, creates an attractive and decorated classroom, and complies with safety practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university is preferred.
  • Certified to teach in the state where the center is located (RO may waive if center is unable to hire certified teachers, but the candidate must pursue certification).
  • A valid state driver’s license is required.
  • Education and certificate requirements may be waived according to local campus district requirements for substitute instructional staff.

  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Noise level can vary from moderate to loud.
