About the role

The Texas A&M University College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts (PVFA) invites applications for an Academic Professional Track (non-tenure), full-time, 9-month Instructional Assistant Professor position in Technical Arts, with a possibility for renewal, beginning Fall 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of undergraduate courses within the Visualization program, including instruction in Unreal Engine pipelines, interactive experiences, digital content creation, and technical art practices.
  • Develop and implement new curriculum pertaining to PVFA programs, particularly in the area of technical arts.
  • Contribute to academic service.
  • Teach the senior capstone course and the Interactive Design Vertical Studio (VIST 210 and VIST 110).
  • Undergraduate mentorship is a large component in these courses.

Requirements

  • A terminal degree (Ph.D. or M.F.A.) in Interactive Design or a related field.
  • Candidates who have completed all Ph.D. requirements except the dissertation (ABD) will be considered provided they demonstrate clear progress toward completion.
  • Extensive university teaching experience.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in Unreal Engine, real-time 3D production, and interactive media.
  • Experience in virtual production, game engine workflows, technical art, interactive design, and emerging real-time visualization technologies.

Skills

  • Ability to teach a variety of undergraduate courses within the Visualization program.
  • Experience in developing and implementing new curriculum.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 annually.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is 9-months per year.
