About the role
The Texas A&M University College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts (PVFA) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track or tenure review upon hire faculty position in Technical Arts at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2027.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of new knowledge, creative inquiry, and technological innovation at the intersection of art, design, performance, computation, and media.
- Maintain an active program of research and/or creative scholarship, pursue external funding opportunities when appropriate, disseminate work through publications, exhibitions, performances, presentations, software systems, patents, or other recognized scholarly and creative outcomes.
- Collaborate with faculty across the College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts and throughout Texas A&M University.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor graduate students, serve on thesis and dissertation committees, contribute to curriculum development, and engage in interdisciplinary collaboration.
Requirements
- Terminal degree (Ph.D., M.F.A., or equivalent) in Technical Arts, Visualization, Digital Media, Interactive Media, Computational Arts, Computer Graphics, Media Arts, Design, Performance Technology, Creative Technologies, or a closely related field.
- Candidates who have completed all Ph.D. requirements except the dissertation (ABD) will be considered provided they demonstrate clear progress toward completion.
- Evidence of an emerging or established program of scholarly and/or creative activity.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring students.
- Ability to contribute to interdisciplinary research, creative scholarship, and collaboration.
Qualifications
- Record of scholarly publications, juried exhibitions, performances, funded projects, patents, software systems, or other recognized research and creative outcomes.
- Experience mentoring graduate students and participating in graduate education.
- Voice in successful interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Potential to secure external funding and develop collaborative research initiatives.
- Experience contributing to innovative curriculum development in emerging media and technical arts disciplines.
