Responsibilities

  • Clinical Coordination & Supervision: Coordinate clinical activities and supervise patient care to ensure excellence in service delivery and adherence to institutional standards.
  • Instruction & Course Leadership: Serve as instructor and/or course director for pre-doctoral courses, contributing to curriculum design and implementation.
  • Evidence-Based Teaching: Develop and deliver lectures that are grounded in current scientific evidence and best practices in dentistry.
  • Simulation & Laboratory Instruction: Teach in simulation clinics and laboratory settings, supporting students in developing foundational clinical competencies.
  • Clinical Education: Provide direct clinical instruction and mentorship during patient care, guiding students through procedures and decision-making.
  • Student Evaluation & Support: Assess students’ professionalism, clinical progress, and performance; offer regular academic and career counseling to foster growth and success.
  • Departmental Engagement: Participate in departmental initiatives, including committee service, faculty meetings, and collaborative academic activities.

Requirements

  • A strong commitment to teaching and service.
  • A DDS, DMD, or equivalent degree (e.g., BDS) from a U.S. or recognized dental school.
  • Eligibility for licensure in Texas.
  • Experience in all fields of general dentistry, strong clinical skills, a strong background in clinical practice, and familiarity with current dental technologies, including CAD/CAM workflow.
  • Completion of a CODA-accredited General Practice Residency (GPR) or Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD).
  • Advanced training/certificate in prosthodontics.
  • At least five (5) years experience teaching dental students.

Skills

The candidate must have experience in all fields of general dentistry, strong clinical skills, a strong background in clinical practice, and be familiar with current dental technologies, including CAD/CAM workflow.
