Academic Neonatologist / Rank Dependent on Qualifications

About the role

The Division of Neonatology seeks an Academic Neonatologist to provide clinical care for neonates across four Level III/IV Newborn Intensive Care Units: University Hospital, Primary Children’s Hospital Salt Lake Campus, Primary Children’s Miller Campus, and Intermountain Medical Center.

Active clinical programs include neonatal/perinatal transfusion medicine, neonatal hematology, clinical trials, ECMO, whole-body hypothermia, Neuro NICU, perioperative care, Neo-AI, POCUS, Genetics and Genomics, Neo Pharmacology, Global Health, and all aspects of neonatal critical care, including a dedicated Neo-Cardiology team. Initial clinical expectation is approximately 18 weeks of service annually.

Responsibilities

• Deliver clinical care, including shared night call and weekend coverage.
• Pursue scholarly research—individual or collaborative—with mentoring support; develop grants and present findings orally and in writing.
• Engage in academic work: education, investigation, administration/service, and advocacy.
• Supervise and train neonatology fellows, pediatric residents, and medical students during inpatient service and clinics.
• Participate in weekly Neonatal Grand Rounds didactic presentations.
• Collaborate with faculty, fellows, and other healthcare providers on cross-service teaching opportunities.

Requirements

• Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
• Excellent procedural and clinical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct research and scholarly activities.
• Interest or experience in point-of-care ultrasound, simulation training and education, telehealth, or clinical research is preferred.
