About the role
The Mayo Clinic Division of Hospital Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota is seeking an academically oriented Hospitalist with an interest in teaching and research to join our team.
This is an opportunity to join an elite team at the Nation’s #1 ranked hospital (U.S. News & World Report 2025-26). A demonstrated track record as a medical educator and/or researcher is strongly preferred. Most successful candidates will have advanced training in hospital medicine, general internal medicine (Chief Resident equivalent), geriatrics, masters level degree or relevant academic hospital experience.
Responsibilities
Mayo Clinic in Rochester uses a dedicated-admitter model. Physicians focus on either new admissions or caring for admitted patients in this system. Physicians share workload on all services with an NPPA colleague.
- 7 on / 7 off schedule (Monday – Sunday)
- 15-17 patients shared between physician and NP/PA
- Shared evenings/night coverage among a large physician group
- Ambitious opportunities for teaching residents, fellows, medical students and NPPA students
- Closed ICU – hospitalist can work in a telemetry progressive care unit
- Practice opportunities in geriatrics, procedures, oncology/hematology, telemetry, patient flow; depending on interests and experience

Qualifications
A qualified candidate must have M.D., D.O. or foreign degree equivalent, must have or be eligible for Minnesota medical license, and must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
Prior experience working in hospital medicine, or advanced training (fellowship or Master’s degree) and demonstrated scholarly activity (such as publication record or additional training or experience at a top ranked academic medical center) is preferred.

Compensation Detail
The minimum starting salary for Hospital-based specialties may range from $217,250 to $533,750. This range reflects full-time total base compensation prior to consideration of additional experience or duties. Pay for the selected candidate will vary based on specialty, experience, FTE, internal equity, or external market data.
