Academic Enrichment Facilitator
Position Summary: The Academic Enrichment Facilitator will work with the Program Director and participants by providing supports during after school time. The incumbent will participate in action planning with children who need additional support, hold check-in meetings with the Program Director and the Community School Director, and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.

Children’s Aid Mission: To help children in poverty to succeed and thrive. We provide comprehensive support to children and their families in targeted high-needs New York City neighborhoods. Children’s Aid annually serves children and their families at over 40 sites in New York, as well as through three national program models. We focus on creating cradle-through-college pathways in high-need neighborhoods, with an emphasis on children’s health, family stability, education, and social and emotional development.

Responsibilities
General On-Site Duties
- Demonstrate a commitment to the Children’s Aid and Samara mission and show initiative and motivation in achieving program goals.
- Maintain documentation on participants.
- Communicate regularly with Children’s Aid and DOE personnel regarding program and participant needs.
- Work cooperatively with other program staff (may include late nights and/or weekends).
- Implement lessons, assessments, and differentiation of students.
Special Events
- Assist with Community School events coordinated by the Program Director or the Community School Director (e.g., on-site registration, student recognition).
Student Development
- Serve as a role model for all students on campus.
- Establish and maintain rapport with students and parents.
- Help students develop self-confidence, improve self-concept, and reduce anxiety or fear of academic failure.
- Help students develop study skills and a positive attitude necessary for academic success.
- Assist in establishing, monitoring, and maintaining safe and respectful behavior of participants.
- Create action plans or academic plans for individual children as needed.
- Administer pre- and post-tests and/or assessments as required.
- Act as a mandated reporter for all staff members.
Student Records
- Maintain records on each student, including follow-up and periodic assessment/grades.
- Assist in assessment of participants and program evaluation.
- Collect and monitor daily participant information such as attendance, grades, and assignments.
- Report and document incidents of discipline and accidents to the Program Director and Community School Director.
Training/Planning
- Attend periodic training sessions to increase competency in working with students and families.
- Collaborate and maintain communication with the Data Specialist, Program Director, Office Manager, and Community School Director.
- Complete additional assignments and mandatory paperwork as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of serving in impoverished communities and a strong commitment to continue serving these communities.
- Ability to work well in teams and collaborate with other organizations and entities.
- Strong communication skills and well-organized.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish, oral and written) preferred.
Pay
$17.50 - $20.00 per hour.
