Position Summary
The Academic Enrichment Facilitator will work with a group of children, planning and implementing activities based on identified curricula in a manner that motivates and engages children and strengthens their academic and social-emotional skills.
Essential Duties
- Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
- Conduct strategic planning in order to develop and implement services and activities for youth.
- Manage Adolescent groups of 10-15 members, ages 13 – 18 years of age.
- Provide creative educational ideas that will help foster a safe & stimulating academic environment.
- Develop age-appropriate life skills and educational activities for assigned groups.
- Plan, organize and implement educational project-based learning activities with intent to ensure safety, fun skill development, community service and learning.
- Develop individual educational objectives and goals for each member.
- Provide College preparation and instruction.
- Provide whole group and one-on-one tutoring.
- Collaborate with Center staff to ensure appropriate referrals are made to other needed services and that all appropriate information is shared.
- Train youth in peer education and leadership development.
- Plan and lead educational and recreational (fun) trips for youth.
- Provide attendance, monitoring and outreach.
- Assess and develop service plans for assigned youth.
- Maintain participant case files and documentation of all required services and activities.
- Cookordinate with on-site and off-site service providers and employers & Attend program meetings.
- Complete and submit weekly schedules, reports and all other required documentation.
- Interact engage and maintain open communication with parents to enable a better understanding of youth needs and how to manage the child/children.
- Work collaboratively with other agency youth programs and partners.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and evenings, when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- A High School Diploma/GED.
- 4 Years of experience working with Children and /or families.
Key Competencies
- Knowledge of youth development principles and youth programs.
- Flexible & able to adapt.
- Experience in curricula development and implementation.
- Ability to interface with diverse youth and staff populations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent Communication Skills (written & verbal).
- Bilingual/English Spanish is a plus.
- Working knowledge of the computer system & data base operations.
