About the Role
The Academic Coordinator provides essential leadership for a school’s entire Literacy, Math, or Science program. This role focuses on expertise in reading and writing across content areas, communication, and instructional organization.
Responsibilities
- Organize and lead a team to develop literacy, math, or science plans for a school.
- Guide teachers in embedding instructional strategies and analyze data related to student mastery.
- Coordinate intervention and support for students.
- Support teachers through conferences, observations, feedback, and analysis of student results.
- Provide demonstration lessons, assist with curriculum implementation, team teaching, and share instructional best practices.
- Share effective instructional strategies with teachers individually and through in-service workshops.
- Assist with unit and lesson planning, observe teachers in the classroom, and make recommendations for improvement.
- Assist teachers and school administrators in meeting identified instructional goals through ongoing communication.
- Collaborate with teachers to build a knowledge base of core content areas and improve teaching skills to enhance student achievement.
- Stay updated on developments in curriculum, instruction, and educational research; determine their appropriateness for school-level implementation.
- Analyze state and district assessment data to target professional development needs.
- Design, plan, and implement school and individual-level professional development opportunities addressing instructional content, curriculum, methods, and assessment.
- Organize and facilitate a team to review assessment data and develop long-term literacy, math, or science plans.
- Organize and facilitate grade-level teams, teacher leaders, or curriculum focus group sessions.
- Communicate instructional best practices with school leadership to maximize teacher effectiveness.
- Lead analysis of data related to student achievement and support staff in using this data for instructional decision-making.
- Prepare weekly logs and reports documenting activities to support teaching and learning improvement.
- Compile data for and prepare statistical, administrative, and professional reports as required.
- Attend training, conferences, workshops, and meetings to enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.
Requirements
- External candidates must hold a valid teaching license for the subject area assignment (Literacy, Math, or Science).
Pay
The salary range for this position is $51,827.51–$90,575.04.
