On-site in Houston, TX—campuses in Central Houston, South Houston, or The Woodlands (relocation assistance available).

About the Role

The most powerful way to support a student who reaches 99% of their target is to insist it isn't finished. If that expectation unsettles you, this position won't be a fit. If it energizes you—because you understand that maintaining high standards demonstrates belief in a student's capability—continue reading.

Alpha operates differently from conventional schools. Students complete a full academic day in roughly two hours using adaptive software. No lectures. No textbooks. Your responsibility centers on what technology cannot deliver: coaching Pre-K through 8th grade students in life skills including public speaking, concentration, and feedback exchange. You'll spend half your time facilitating hands-on workshops guided by structured playbooks and storytelling techniques. The remainder involves working with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their adaptive learning progress via Coachbot analytics, and driving them toward 100% completion of weekly objectives. Mastery is verified through Test2Pass assessments, not participation metrics.

During your first year, you'll manage a student cohort and become fluent in Alpha's methodology: life skill workshops, motivational coaching, mastery-based evaluation. When you consistently guide every student to 100% goal completion while maintaining satisfaction ratings above 90%, advancement to Lead Guide becomes possible—a role where you mentor fellow Guides while remaining active with students. Top performers in this position don't merely transform individual trajectories; they influence campus-wide operations. If you've dedicated years to coaching, counseling, or mentoring young people and wish you could eliminate traditional instruction to concentrate purely on their development, this opportunity is for you.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating one-hour life skill workshops for Pre-K–8 students covering public speaking, concentration, collaboration, and feedback processes (activity-based and project-oriented)
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching sessions where you analyze each student's adaptive learning progress (via Coachbot analytics), establish objectives, and drive them toward 100% weekly goal achievement
  • Overseeing and assessing Test2Pass evaluations to verify genuine mastery of each life skill, beyond simple participation
  • Adjusting your approach across diverse age groups, from Pre-K learners requiring dynamic, movement-rich engagement to 8th graders needing direct conversation and accountability
  • Cultivating authentic connections with each student so they trust you sufficiently to receive coaching through challenges, distraction, and uncertainty
  • Guarantee that every student in your cohort develops a love for school, achieves mastery in essential life skills, and completes 100% of their academic objectives using adaptive learning technology

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Presenting lectures or providing conventional academic instruction (core subjects are learned through adaptive applications, not through your teaching)
  • Creating lesson plans or developing curriculum independently (Alpha supplies life skills playbooks; your role is to execute them with energy and narrative skill)
  • Handling parent communications or administrative school functions (Campus Leads manage those areas; your focus remains on students)
  • Evaluating homework or overseeing standardized testing preparation (these elements don't exist in this environment)
  • Operating independently (you're embedded in a campus team including Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who exchange feedback and maintain mutual accountability)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • 3+ years of direct experience with Pre-K–8 students via teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program management
  • Demonstrated history of coaching individual Pre-K–8 students toward challenging academic, behavioral, or extracurricular objectives, with specific examples of your methods and outcomes
  • Capability to facilitate compelling live workshops and communicate with energy, precision, and presence across the Pre-K–8 age spectrum
  • Confidence in motivating reluctant students, upholding rigorous standards, and operating within a non-traditional, coaching-centered school framework rather than traditional academic delivery
  • Available to work on-site at Alpha's Central Houston, South Houston, or The Woodlands campus (relocation assistance provided)
  • Authorization to work legally in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in youth sports coaching, camp coordination, or after-school programming where you held direct responsibility for motivating children to achieve defined goals
  • History of exceptional personal accomplishment (academic distinctions, competitive athletics, or leadership positions demanding consistent excellence)
  • Innate storytelling capacity: you can maintain the attention of a room full of 12-year-olds for an hour without elevating your voice
  • Experience engaging disengaged or resistant students and converting them into active contributors
