About the role
This 0.75 FTE position provides academic and administrative support for the Certificate in Horticultural Therapy in the Horticultural Sciences Department in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary administrative and operational support for the Horticultural Therapy Certificate program, ensuring effective coordination and continuity of program activities.
- Aid faculty with course preparation, development of course materials, and facilitation of student interactions.
- Support student engagement and community-building activities.
- Facilitate admissions and enrollment processes by reviewing application materials, communicating with prospective students, and preparing and forwarding application packages to review committees.
- Advise students on program requirements, policies, and university guidelines; monitor student progress and support timely completion of program milestones and graduation requirements.
- Deliver comprehensive enrollment support by maintaining student lists, preparing reports, tracking student progress, and processing graduation applications.
- Develop and disseminate promotional and outreach materials targeting both internal and external audiences to support recruitment and program visibility.
- Manage and maintain program data and record-keeping systems related to applications, enrollment, scheduling, grades, evaluations, and institutional reporting requirements.
- Foster and maintain effective working relationships across departments and units to support the success of the Horticultural Therapy Certificate program.
- Help students and faculty stay up-to-date on information and issues related to students’ work toward professional certification and including eligibility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Academic training in horticultural therapy.
- Experience in managing applications and course registration for degree and non-degree students.
- Ability to effectively interact with the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively, in both verbal and written form.
- Knowledge of university and college policies and procedures related to undergraduate admissions and academic programs.
- Ability to properly complete and process all relevant forms used in undergraduate academic programs.
- Knowledge of student admissions procedures.
- Knowledge of UF student records systems.
- Ability to use UF student records systems to monitor a student’s academic progress and certify students for graduation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to use the internet effectively and efficiently.
