Academic and Career Advising in Advisory Houses

Advisory Houses

The Yale School of Medicine has six advisory houses that serve as a homebase for academic advising and career advising. These houses provide a space for students to connect with classmates, faculty, alumni, and others at YSM, facilitating mentorship, research opportunities, and career exploration.

• Head of Advisory House: Elected by the students within the house, the head of advisory house oversees the overall operations and ensures that the house functions effectively. They also work closely with the longitudinal coach to support students' academic and career development.
• Longitudinal Coach: A longitudinal coach is appointed by the advisory house and works closely with the head of advisory house. They focus on providing individualized support and guidance to students throughout their medical education journey, helping them navigate academic challenges and career aspirations.

Academic Advising

The Academic Advising Program at Yale School of Medicine provides academic and career guidance to medical students. It contributes to their professional development by offering resources and support tailored to their unique needs.

Career Advising

Deciding on a career path in medicine is a continuous process involving self-discovery, mentorship, and exploration. The Career Advising program at YSM supports students in making informed decisions about their future careers.
