Academic Advisor and Program Coordinator

Provide an exceptional student experience by serving student needs related to course scheduling, course registration, academic advising, new student orientation, and other student services for both degree and non-degree students. Meet students' educational and career goals by helping them identify their goals and aligning their path to success.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advising to both degree and non-degree students in reviewing academic performance, progress towards completion of degree requirements, course selection/registration, as well as program, Graduate College, and University policies and procedures.
• Advise and assist students with academic, probationary, and financial concerns on possible courses of action and refer students to appropriate campus resources when applicable.
• Provide advice and assistance to prospective students regarding program requirements, degree planning, and course selection questions.
• Provide New Student Registration advising and onboarding to admitted students.
• Thoroughly document all student contact and records using the advising portal system, including scheduling, overrides, petitions, and degree audits.
• Design, implement, and execute a student communication plan that keeps current and prospective students, as well as alumni, engaged and affiliated with the college and university, including social media, emails, and text messages.
• Develop and revise informational materials, resources, and other content.
• Serve as an admissions officer for admitting students and providing information to the admissions committee on applicants who need secondary review while maintaining accurate and confidential records.
• Coordinate efforts to increase the yield of admitted students to enrollment.
• Coordinate with course management and eLearning teams to ensure a positive student experience.
• Respond to inquiries across social media platforms and identify strategies to grow audience reach.
• Represent the program at virtual and in-person recruiting events, webinars, and conferences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, or relevant field is required.
• At least two years of professional experience is required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, education, or relevant field (preferred).
• Two years of experience providing student academic support in a higher education setting (preferred).
• Experience working with a diverse student population.
• Experience with a variety of social media platforms.
• Experience administering and assessing programs.

Allergies to hay, straw, or animal dander may cause discomfort based on the location within the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Schedule

• Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to meet the online advising and event needs of the student population.
• Normal office setting.

Pay

The budgeted annual salary range for the position is $45,000 to $55,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 8/17/2026. This position is not eligible for any type of sponsorship for work authorization.
