About the role
The Orvis School of Nursing (OSN) at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for an Academic Advisor 2. This position plays a key role in supporting student success through academic advising, admissions, recruitment, retention initiatives, and student-centered programming.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive advising to undergraduate nursing students, including:
- Academic planning
- Course scheduling
- Progression requirements
- Degree completion
- Guidance for admission to and success within nursing programs
- Serve as a primary resource on nursing program requirements, university policies, and student support services
- Support the admissions process by:
- Reviewing applications
- Assisting prospective students
- Providing guidance throughout the application process
- Develop targeted advising and intervention strategies
- Participate in recruitment and outreach activities
- Collaborate with faculty and staff on student success initiatives
- Build relationships with community partners to promote nursing education
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of related work experience (e.g., academic advising, teaching, student services, or related fields)
- Master’s degree and two years of related work experience (preferred)
