University of Utah Health (HMHI) – Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine – Psychiatry is seeking a dedicated and motivated full-time Adult Inpatient Psychiatrist to join its faculty. The Huntsman Mental Health Institute and the Adult Psychiatry Division aim to meet the challenges of providing high-quality psychiatric services in a region with growing mental health care needs.

About the role

The successful candidate will provide clinical services at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) and University of Utah Hospital, contributing to outstanding patient care, medical training, and pioneering research. Faculty appointment and rank will be based on academic experience and professional accomplishments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent clinical care in adult inpatient psychiatry, demonstrating a strong commitment to patient mental health.
• Participate in on-call duties, providing cross-coverage for vacations and meetings as coordinated by the Adult Psychiatry Division Chief.
• Engage in scholarly activities, developing durable materials such as papers, courses, presentations, posters, or educational games.
• Teach and supervise medical students, residents, fellows, and trainees from other disciplines during psychiatric rotations.
• Serve as a mentor for medical students and residents.
• Fulfill administrative duties related to clinical care, including peer review and participation on departmental, school, and health system committees.
• Annual review by the Division Chief as part of the School of Medicine faculty appointment.

The percentage of effort spent in clinical, education, investigation, and administrative activities will be negotiated annually.

Requirements

• Completion of a residency in Psychiatry.
• Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry; certification is required for retention.
• Hold or be eligible to apply for a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Utah.
• Expertise in adult inpatient psychiatry.
