Academic Adult Outpatient Psychiatrist, Rank DOQ - University of Utah Health (HMHI) - Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine - Psychiatry
The Huntsman Mental Health Institute and the Adult Psychiatry Division in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine are seeking dedicated and motivated full-time Outpatient Adult Psychiatrists to join its faculty. This role supports the growing mental health care needs of local and regional communities through outstanding patient care, high-standard training for medical students and residents, and pioneering research programs.
About the Role
Successful candidates will provide outpatient clinical services for the University of Utah's Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) in satellite outpatient clinics along the Wasatch Front. Faculty appointment and rank will be based on academic experience and professional accomplishments. The position is part of a supportive team within a major referral center for a five-state region.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Care:
- Use excellent clinical skills in psychiatry to serve the mental health needs of outpatient clientele.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical care.
- Participate in call duties as an expected clinical responsibility, including cross-coverage for vacations and meetings.
- Investigation:
- Engage in scholarly activities.
- Develop durable materials such as papers, courses, presentations, posters, and games based on scholarly work.
- Education:
- Engage in patient care activities with learners, including residents, medical students, fellows, and trainees from other disciplines.
- Serve as a mentor for medical students and residents.
- Teach and supervise medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees during psychiatric clinical rotations.
- Administration:
- Perform administrative duties associated with clinical care.
- Contribute to administrative service for the Department of Psychiatry, the School of Medicine, and the health system, including peer review and committee participation.
- Report to and be reviewed annually by the Division Chief as part of the School of Medicine faculty appointment.
The percentage of effort spent in clinical, education, investigation, and administrative activities will be negotiated annually. Assignments will be coordinated through the Adult Psychiatry Division Chief.
Requirements
- Hold or be eligible to apply for a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Utah.
- Completion of a residency in Psychiatry.
- Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry; obtaining board certification is a requirement for retention.
- Expertise in adult outpatient psychiatry.
