About the role

You will lead the Accounting & Tax department for a major residential landlord in Bremen and Bremerhaven, reporting directly to the Head of Business Administration (which also oversees Finance and Controlling). The role combines strategic leadership of a team of ~17 specialists with full responsibility for financial reporting, tax compliance, governance, and digital transformation across the group.

Responsibilities

  • Führung & Zusammenarbeit: Take over the professional and disciplinary leadership of the department; strategic headcount and talent planning; develop roles, competencies and collaboration; act as central interface to the Executive Board, authorized officers and other specialist departments; handle special projects for the Board and authorized officers.
  • Rechnungswesen & Steuern: Oversee annual and quarterly financial statements for all group companies; ensure quality, deadlines and regulatory conformity; coordinate business and dependency reports for GEWOBA AG; manage relationships with auditors; align balance-sheet policy and tax matters with the Board and authorized officers; ensure tax compliance and optimize the group’s tax burden.
  • Governance, Compliance & Prozesse: Further develop policies, business instructions and internal control systems; ensure audit-proof and efficient processes; evaluate and implement new accounting and regulatory requirements; coordinate audit engagements; define clear responsibilities, controls and approval workflows.
  • Digitalisierung & Unternehmenssteuerung: Drive strategic and operational digitalization of the area; unlock automation and efficiency gains via AI, RPA and workflow solutions; represent the Finance department in payment transactions; contribute to Balanced Scorecards and Risk Scorecards; coordinate inputs for the annual budget and the 90 AktG report.

Requirements

  • Personality: Confident, responsible leadership personality with strong communication and decision-making skills; analytical and solution-oriented approach to complex issues; proactive mindset, strategic thinking, high quality awareness and willingness to change.
  • Experience & Knowledge: Several years of relevant professional experience in accounting, financial reporting, taxation and/or governance; deep knowledge of German GAAP (HGB), experience steering annual and quarterly financial statements and liaising with auditors; familiarity with tax compliance, internal control systems, risk management and regulatory requirements; leadership experience and track record in process optimization and digitalization of finance processes.
  • Education: Completed degree in business administration (preferably with focus on accounting, finance, taxation or controlling) or equivalent qualification; additional qualifications such as Steuerberater*in, Wirtschaftsprüfer*in or Bilanzbuchhalter*in are advantageous.
  • IT Skills: Confident and routine user of ERP systems and Microsoft 365.

Pay

Annual salary: €93,312 – €99,144 (non-tariff, plus variable target agreement).

Schedule

Flexible working hours and partial remote work; more than 30 vacation days.
