About the role
The Abstractor VII supervises a group of abstractors engaged in land title examinations and in preparing abstracts of land title information to determine ownership of land; assigns land title examinations and reviews completed work for accuracy and completeness; participates in searching legal documents; supervises a staff engaged in writing Certificates of Title and preparing title reports; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Prepares; reviews; or extracts information from legal documents and/or records dealing with real property ownership or transactions.
- Examines and analyzes real property ownership records and documents to determine and evidence title to real property.
- Lifts and carries items up to 50 pounds unassisted with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Show supervisory aptitude rather than actual supervisory experience.
Requirements
- Legal Authorization to Work: Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
- Hawaiian Language Requirement: Must possess knowledge of and the ability to speak, write, and read the Hawaiian language in addition to the English Language.
- General Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience involving one or a combination of the following: preparing, reviewing, or extracting information from legal documents and/or records dealing with real property ownership or transactions.
- Specialized Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience involved in the examining and analyzing of real property ownership records and documents to determine and evidence title to real property.
Qualifications
- Substitutions allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply.
- No substitution for the Hawaiian Language requirement.

Pay
$4,738 to $5,992 per month (SR-17, Step C to I).
