Duties Summary
The positions perform duties in support of or involved with the examining, determining, and evidencing of title to real property or interests therein. This includes:
- Searching public records to ascertain the history and present condition of the title to land.
- Examining all conveyances affecting the land, including trust deeds and other legal documents.
- Summarizing (abstracting) the operative portions of these conveyances to record the history of the title.
- Determining ownership and all existing liens and encumbrances, and noting any defects.
- Evidence of title includes documents establishing the title to property, such as abstracts of title, Certificates of Title, and Certificates or chains of title.
- Preparing and issuing Title Certificates, abstracts, or chains of title.
- Assigning and supervising other employees in the preparation of Certificates of Title.
- Keeping other files and records.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Legal Authorization to Work: Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
- General Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience involving one or a combination of the following: preparing, reviewing, or extracting information from legal documents and/or records dealing with real property ownership or transactions.
- Specialized Experience: One year of progressively responsible work experience involved in the examining and analyzing of real property ownership records and documents to determine and evidence title to real property.
- Relevant Substitutions: As described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements, relevant substitutions may apply.

PAY, SCHEDULE, AND BENEFITS
- Pay: $3,900 to $4,933 per month (SR-13, Step C to I).
- Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.
