ABL Monitoring Manager
About the Role
Banesco USA is seeking an ABL Monitoring Manager for our Credit Department.
Primary Job Duties
- Collateral Monitoring & Administration
- Borrowing Base Management: Oversee the receipt, review, and reconciliation of Borrowing Base Certificates (BBCs), accounts receivable agings, accounts payable agings, and inventory reports.
- Advance Approvals: Review and approve daily or weekly funding requests, ensuring advances are supported by eligible collateral and fall within established advance rates and credit limits.
- Ineligibles Tracking: Continuously monitor and calculate ineligible collateral (e.g., cross-aging, contra accounts, foreign receivables, obsolete inventory) per the loan agreement.
- Overadvance Management: Immediately identify, report, and manage any overadvance situations, working with the relationship manager and senior credit staff to resolve them.
- Field Exams & Appraisals
- Audit Coordination: Schedule and coordinate recurring third-party field examinations and inventory/equipment appraisals based on the bank's policy frequencies.
- Report Review: Thoroughly review field exam reports and appraisals, identifying key findings, negative trends, or discrepancies in the borrower's reporting.
- Implementation: Adjust borrowing base formulas, advance rates, or collateral reserves based on the recommendations and findings of field exams.
- Team Leadership & Operations
- Staff Management: Supervise, train, and develop a team of ABL Monitoring Specialists.
- Workflow Optimization: Manage the daily workflow of the monitoring team to ensure BBCs are processed and funding requests are executed promptly, maintaining excellent client service.
- System Management: Serve as the primary administrator for the bank's ABL collateral tracking software (e.g., Cync ABL), ensuring data integrity and system optimization.
- Risk Reporting & Compliance
- Trend Analysis: Track borrower trends (e.g., dilution rates, monthly sales and customer collections, ineligible collateral, etc.) and report material changes or red flags to the Credit Department and Corporate Banking Department.
- Portfolio Reporting: Prepare monthly portfolio monitoring reports for distribution to members of the Credit and Corporate Banking Management team, highlighting high-risk accounts.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Underwriting Support: Provide historical collateral performance data and operational insights to Credit Underwriters and Portfolio Managers during annual renewals or loan modifications.
- Client Communication: Communicate directly with borrowers' accounting or finance departments to resolve reporting discrepancies, missing documentation, or BBC calculation errors.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. (A strong accounting background is heavily preferred for this role).
- Experience: 5 to 7+ years of experience in asset-based lending operations, collateral monitoring, field exams, or loan administration.
- Leadership: 2+ years of supervisory or team lead experience.
- Exceptional understanding of ABL mechanics, Borrowing Base calculations, and collateral eligibility criteria.
- Ability to interpret complex credit agreements and translate legal terms into daily monitoring procedures.
- Strong proficiency in reviewing and dissecting Accounts Receivable and Inventory agings.
- Experience with specialized ABL monitoring software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables, complex formulas).
- Advanced computer skills including but not limited to proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and the G Suite.
- Preferably bilingual: English, Spanish.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Strong investigative mindset to detect irregularities or potential fraud in borrower reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where daily funding deadlines must be met.
- Ability to multi-task, with strong organization, time-management and prioritizing skills.
- Strong customer service skills, ensuring satisfaction of both internal and external customers.
- Basic knowledge of related State and Federal banking compliance regulations and operational policies.
