Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations.
- Manage transplant surgery inpatients, including daily rounds, treatment planning, documentation, and discharge preparation.
- Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests and imaging.
- Perform approved bedside procedures (e.g., wound care, drain management, line removals).
- Evaluate surgical consults and support peri-operative coordination.
- Respond to acute issues and emergent situations in collaboration with surgical attendings.
Outpatient Care
- Staff transplant surgery clinics, including postoperative follow-ups and pre-operative evaluations.
- Maintain contact with patients and families regarding symptoms, treatment adjustments, and educational needs.
- Aid in the long-term management of surgical transplant patients.
In-House Call Responsibilities
- Provide on-site nighttime and weekend coverage as part of a structured rotation.
- Serve as first-call APP for transplant surgery patients while in-house.
- Respond promptly to consults, urgent clinical changes, and emergent care needs.
- Ensure thorough and timely handoffs between care teams.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Provider program.
- Current unrestricted state licensure as an APP.
- National certification as required for APP credentialing.
- BLS and ACLS certifications (institution-specific).

About the Role
The Transplant Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within a multidisciplinary transplant program. This position provides inpatient and outpatient clinical services for transplant surgery patients across the continuum of care, including pre-operative evaluation, peri-operative management, and post-operative follow-up. The APP participates in rotating day shifts and in-house night coverage to ensure 24/7 service support.
