Abasirikare 146 basoje amahugurwa y’urwego rushinzwe imyitwarire no kurinda abayobozi (Military Police)
On 11 August 2026, the Chief of Defence Staff of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), Gen MK Mubarak, presided over the closing ceremony of a 7-week Military Police training program for 146 soldiers. The training took place at the Rwanda Military Academy in Gako, in collaboration with the Qatar Armed Forces.
The ceremony was attended by the Qatari Ambassador to Rwanda, Mansoor Ali Al-Hajri, senior officers from the Qatar Armed Forces, and high-ranking RDF officials.
About the training
The program focused on key Military Police functions, including:
- Protecting senior leadership
- Combating terrorism
- Urban warfare and tactical operations
- Countering riots and civil disturbances
Remarks
In his address, the RDF Chief of Defence Staff commended the graduates for their dedication and professionalism in acquiring the necessary skills to fulfill their duties. He emphasized that the training enhanced the expertise and capabilities of the Military Police and the RDF as a whole. He urged the graduates to apply and share their new knowledge with their peers.
The Chief of Defence Staff also praised the Qatari instructors for their professionalism and expertise in delivering the training. He highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between the armed forces of both nations, noting that this initiative reflects the strengthening partnership between Qatar and Rwanda.
He reaffirmed Rwanda’s commitment to advancing military cooperation through joint training, knowledge exchange, and mutual growth in defense capabilities, benefiting both countries.
The Qatari representative expressed appreciation for the RDF’s leadership and support throughout the training. He acknowledged the strong cooperation and positive relations between the Rwanda Defence Force and the Qatar Armed Forces, noting that these efforts played a significant role in the program’s success.
