About the role

The Applied Behavior Analyst (ABA)/DTI Paraeducator works in a special education program with elementary aged children with Autism and other Pervasive Developmental Disabilities under the direction of the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and special education teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Implement individual and small group instruction to students with specific behavior programs
  • Implement lesson plans developed by the special education teacher or BCBA to support student success in all school settings
  • Be responsible for managing and organizing lesson materials, preparations and other functions to support each student's individualized education plan (IEP)
  • Be responsible for data collection and maintaining documentation for each student
  • Be responsible for following behavior intervention plans under the supervision of the BCBA and special education teacher
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning
  • Support students with personal hygiene
  • Incorporate safety measures for students

Requirements

  • Candidates must hold a high school diploma.
  • Associates and/or or Bachelors degree in Psychology, Special Education or related field preferred but not necessary.
  • Experience working directly with children with autism and/or behavioral challenges within a behavioral program preferred but not necessary.
  • PMT or similar training preferred.

  • Good experience for future psychologists, social workers and special education teachers.

  • Salary In accordance with the Agreement Between Cheshire Board of Education and CSEA/SEIU Local 2001/760 in Behalf of the Cheshire Paraeducators and Lunchroom/Playground Aides.
  • Starting Salary $25.87/hour.
